The Bright Summer Flowers

The sun has officially returned and my summer dresses are out of their suitcases where they hibernate over the winter. I’m so excited to finally start wearing some of my summer clothes, I love each season for its different ways but there is something so freeing about summer. I love swishing around in loose cotton skirts and dresses with silky bare legs and bare feet in the cool grass. Although we’ve had the odd light shower it has stayed mainly dry the past few days and I’ve really enjoyed being able to lie down in the grass and let the warm sun soak into my skin. I’m not going away abroad this summer and so I am trying to take as much advantage of the summer dress weather  as I can.

I love bright summer clothes and this dress is an old favourite, I bought it in the mid summer sale a few years ago for less than £15 and it is definitely a staple in my wardrobe. The flowers remind a bit of a Monet painting and paired with a mint green cardigan and fuchsia pink lip I felt very summery wandering around South Park in Oxford. The handbag is a beautiful 1960s original that I picked up a couple of years ago when I was out vintage shopping with my sister in Sheffield. For a vintage handbag it is actually quite a good size and although I can’t get my camera into it I can fit the essential phone, lippy and purse in there.

What I Wore…
